Budapest, budapest cycling tours, Csergezán Pál-kilátó, Budakeszi Adventure Park, Pilis Bike bicycle road, trip

Tour information

The Hideg-völgy (Cold Valley) tour starting from Budakeszi invites experienced cyclists for a sweaty forest adventure! This approximately 2.5-3 hours long route provides a thorough workout, and when combined with a visit to the wildlife park, it can turn into a full-day programme. Not far from Budapest, the ride begins right in the heart of the forest from the vicinity of the wildlife park, and after a few warm-up kilometres, you’ll encounter steep downhill and challenging uphill roads! This route even includes the most technical downhill section of the Pilis Bike cycling network. The 27 kilometres long trail loops around Nagy-Kopasz Hill, taking you through the woods, with glimpses of stunning views that will reward you for every kilometre travelled. Keep in mind that the route can get slippery after rain, so it’s better to choose a different route after rainfall. The PB marking indicates the Pilis Bike routes.

Attractions

Csergezán Pál Lookout Tower

At the highest point of the Buda Hills, on top of the 559-metre-high Nagy-Kopasz peak, the Csergezán Pál Lookout Tower rises proudly, constructed from red pine. Exactly 100 steps lead to the tower’s top level, and it’s worth climbing them all because an incomparable panoramic view awaits you up there. On clear days, the panorama from the tower unveils a 100-kilometre radius view of Budapest, encompassing the Pilis Mountains, Visegrád Mountains, Mátra, Vértes, Gerecse, and Velence Hills’ majestic contours.
